Ferraris Win Awards at 2018 Greenwich Concours
The 23rd annual Greenwich Concours d'Elegance, held on June 1 to 3 at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Conn., saw more than 13,000 people pass through its gates to view an array of significant collector cars. This year’s show was as excellent as always, right on the harbor edge. It’s a two day show actually, with American classic and sports cars on the Saturday and the European models on Sunday. This year saw a big celebration of the cars of Briggs Cunningham. Organizer Mary Wennerstrom put out the call and the owners responded. Of the 35 remaining Cunninghams built, 33 were on the field, along with five Cunningham team race cars, four continuation cars, and Cunningham's personal 1955 Thunderbird. This was the largest display of Cunningham cars ever assembled in one location.
On Sunday, there was a good representation of Ferraris, as there are abundant special Ferraris sequestered in the northeast. The outright blockbuster was, of course, the 1957 335 Sport from the Scuderia NE Collection, which won Best of Show for Sport on the Sunday. This is a truly magnificent sports racing Ferrari and has come to epitomize the power and supremacy of the unlimited sports racers of the mid to late 1950s.
Also garnering particular attention was the 1965 Vignale 330 GT Shooting Brake, owned by Tom Papadopoulos, the multi-faceted 1950 195 S, owned by Bruce Vayno, and the spare but beautiful 1957 250 GT Boano, owned by Dennis Nicotra.

Everything was perfect, from the wonderful people to the incredible cars,” said Mary Wennerstrom, Concours Chairman. “Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces throughout the weekend was the highlight for me! I have many thank-yous to write, as so many people helped to make the event a success.”
Since its inception, the Greenwich Concours has raised funds to support Americares, a health-focused relief and development organization that responds to people affected by poverty or disaster with life-changing medicine, medical supplies and health programs.
